Natawista Iksina (Culbertson) was a diplomat, a hostess, and an interpreter, who worked with her husband for nearly thirty years to bridge the gap between the white traders and the Native people of Alberta , Canada and beyond. At the age of 15 she married   Alexander Culbertson , a trader of the American Fur Company. They had 5 children. Her father, Two Suns, was a Kainah leader. She frequently served as a peacemaker, leading negotiations between Blood leaders and Europeans. Her efforts helped secure a treay of peace. She and her husband eventually moved to Illinois, and then Montana, before she ultimately returned to live her last years with her people in Alberta.
