Lilian Margaret St. Cyr - Notable Native Americans
Lilian Margaret St. Cyr was a silent film actress, and one of the first Native American actors . Born on the Winnebago Reservation in Nebraska , she attended the Carlisle Indian Industrial School in Pennsylvania and eventually met and married her Nanticoke husband James Young Deer. Together, they performed a Western act in various venues around New York City and Philadelphia. Eventually she became a film actress, and from 1908 to 1921, St. Cyr performed in more than 35 short Western films.
